we hope you are enjoying this wonderfully brisk saturday!

we’ve been working on finishing up several projects and have a couple more ready and waiting, but thought today we would introduce Sweetbriar.

Sweetbriar was dreamed up a few months ago…when the Bramble Patch collection by Hannah Dale arrived. It had the most lovely large dot and each dot featured a little critter or bird. Of course, a dot like that is unusual…though not unusable…just a different kind of print, not really one you see a lot. it would make the cutest backing…then you could have used it has a pastel version of a child’s game of Twister, which would have been the coolest thing!

After mulling over it for a day or so, we brainstormed that it would make the cutest center for a Dresden plate quilt. We have a Dresden plate quilt in the shop, mind you, but it was made of vintage blocks and is really just a quilt for inspiration. We didn’t have a Dresden that was kitted and ready to go. So we ordered in Dresden plate papers that had a center big enough to use the sweet critter dot, and i set to work.

i LOVED making these plates. the gentle palette of mint green, soft blue, peachy pink, washed yellow, white and stormy grey were such a joy to work with as winter set in and the temperatures dropped. i have envisioned it as the bed quilt in the window for Easter even though it is just 65 x 78 inches…but we’ll see. Those little bunnies and chicks and the duck are just perfect for Easter…

i appliquéd the plates to a white square and we chose a simple, vintage style straight setting with no border which brings your focus back to the plates and their unique centers.

i love that fox…on the pink background…um…the cutest and she reminds me of the Gabby-Goo!

we chose a diamond quilting pattern…to give the look of a crosshatch…it really works with the soft edges of the plates.

couldn’t resist a close-up of this darling little guinea pig with flowers in her hair.

we do have a limited number of kits available…kits include all the fabric for the front including binding and background along with the Sweetbriar pattern, paper pack for 30 Dresden plates and 2 windowed acrylics to help with any fussy cutting.

you can grab your kit here.

i’ll be back next week with our newest quilt…a pastel version of our beloved Sassafrass. it is divine…so utterly pastel and yummy…

looks to be the end of the day and there is chili is on the stove at home which is the perfect answer to chilly days like today.

happy stitching!
